Frequently asked questions about Sex and Relationship Coaching.

  • Sex and Relationship Coaching is not the same as Clinical Therapy. These are two different specialisations. In this coaching, we work collaboratively to explore a deeper somatic connection with your body. The link to your body gives you freedom and personal choice. We’ll focus on transforming your sexual and relationship lives, and you will also experience a metamorphosis in other areas of your life. This coaching is not a replacement for therapy. Instead, it can be an addition thereof. Some clients combine this coaching with their treatment and other types of coaching. With your consent, we can collaborate with your Therapist to integrate your healing process.

  • A Sex and Relationship coach is a professional specialising in the field of Sex and Relationships. They help clients improve sex and relationships by creating a physical connection with the body (instead of just thoughts). They teach, train, guide, motivate, collaborate, inspire, mentor, validate, and listen to help clients achieve their sexual, intimacy and relationship goals. They use their training in human sexuality to offer resources, techniques and tools tailored to each client. These coaches help their clients explore attachment issues, practice opening up and being vulnerable, and enhance their emotional awareness. They work with their clients on building their comfort with physical intimacy, self-touch and physical intimacy with others.

  • A Certified Somatica® Sex and Relationship Coach has the skills, knowledge and ability to work with clients in the realm of sex and relationships beyond the boundaries of traditional therapy to open up a world of options “to experience the fulfilment of their deepest needs for love, connection and sexual expression”. The Somatica® approach is different to other forms of Sex and Relationship coaching in the way that we explore a connection with your body and not just thoughts.

    Some of the benefits include:

Discover what secure attachment in relationships is and how to express yourself fully.

Learn how to connect with your body, sensations and feelings.

Move into acceptance of all that you are.

Develop skills needed to have out-of-this-world relationships and sex.

Relate to self and others, and how to navigate rejections, fears, and disappointment.

    Reduce shame, judgements and self-criticism.

Develop a new understanding of sex and how to bring that to life.

Curiosity to understand yourself and others better.

Getting real-time practice to become the best lover ever.

    And so much more…

  • Sex and Relationship Coaching can be done whilst you continue with all aspects and activities of your health and wellness goals. This could include anything from mindfulness, meditation, yoga and physical training. This type of coaching can be combined with psychotherapy, counselling, and other life and business coaching practices.

  • Experiential Sex and Relationship Coaching means you’ll get to practice and experience the coaching in real-time instead of the coach telling you what to do and then giving you homework to go and practice at home. You’ll share a real-time relationship practice with me, from reconnecting with your sexual self to developing emotional empowerment. There will be erotic energy exchange and dynamic sharing, which deepens your connection with yourself

  • Sex Coaches are usually absent during any sexual activity, and neither is there any sex between yourself and your coach. Unless the coach is a Sexual Surrogate or Sexological Bodyworker, which are different specialisations. Refer to Sexual Surrogacy and Bodywork.

  • Even though Sex Coaching is practical and experiential, clothes remain on for the client and the coach throughout the session. There is no kissing, oral or genital stimulation, or sex. There will be two-way touch for in-person sessions and erotic energy exchange, and emotional sharing to enable your learning process.

  • Sexological bodywork is a practice that helps clients through one-way erotic massage, breathwork and other body-based tools. Some Sex Coaches could be trained as sexological bodyworkers too. You will need to discuss this with your Sex and Relationship Coach, whether they offer this as a service or you could find someone specialised in sexological bodywork.

  • Sex Coaching is not the same as sexual surrogacy. A Sexual surrogate works as part of a therapy team and must be referred to by a psychotherapist.

  • A sex and relationship coach has vast knowledge, experience and information to guide you towards personal insight. They cannot guarantee your success. As with any coaching environment and skills development practices, the training is only as good as how much you implement this in your life. This coaching is not advice-driven but helps you process your experience of being human. And this magical process will bring a more profound sense of self-awareness and emotions. I’ll provide you with tools to better navigate the problems you might experience and achieve the sex and relationship ideals you want to reach.

  • Embodied Somatic Sex Coaching takes a person out of their thoughts and into their body sensations.

Somatic coaching works collaboratively through an immersive coaching journey. You will learn how to be better at personal, emotional, erotic and relationship intimacy through the way you relate to your body.

  • Do I need a Relationship Coach or a Relationship Therapist?

A relationship coach supports individuals and couples in learning life-changing skills for relating to each other with empathy and vulnerability - especially in marriages, romantic partnerships or multi-partner relationship structures. I’ll teach you how to develop skills and tools to deepen intimacy, connection and pleasure, and acknowledge and express your needs, wants, boundaries and desires. Sex and Relationship coaching works well for those curious about improving their relationships. On the other hand, therapy is better equipped to help people work with deep trauma wounds and problems beyond the coach's domain.

  • Sex and Relationship coaches work in a profoundly intimate and emotionally connected space. In the safety of this space, you can discuss absolutely anything and everything. Here are some guiding questions you might want to consider:

  • Most Coaches offer online sessions that help you achieve your goals and learn new skills. Some coaches combine this with in-person sessions or intensives to deepen the learning experience. We’ll work virtually from wherever you are in the world. It’s always good to ensure that you are in a private space without disturbances to allow you to be yourself and be free to talk about what’s coming up for you.

  • Tantra takes years to master. Most Sex and Relationship coaches incorporate some of the methods used in Tantra, like experiencing and involving your senses, breathwork and eye contact. All forms of sexuality are sacred as long as it is consenting, present, personally responsible and self-aware in the experience.

  • Different to therapy which has regulatory bodies, there are credible institutions providing these qualifications for Sex and Relationship Coaches, like my training through the Somatica® Institute in San Francisco, USA. While some Sex Coaches do the work without certification or professional accreditation, some training and certification are always good. This validates their work combined with their years of personal experience to guide clients through their unique wisdom and learning. You can find out more here about the Somatica® Institute philosophy.

  • Sex and Relationship Coaches are experts in sex and relationships that are valuable when you need them - even if you think you don’t. They have access to resources, knowledge and forums that you do not have. You cannot find this knowledge through friends, magazines, the internet or social media. Sex and Relationship Coaching is non-shaming, non-judgmental and inclusive. By investing in yourself, I will help you to be better at sex and relationships - even if you do think you’ve got them.

  • Just as when you are out in the world dating, you’ll need to find a coach with whom you feel connected - not just emotionally, but also someone who understands you. A great coach will help you grow beyond what you think is possible. To find and work with a Sex and Relationship Coach, you can search the internet or social media to find someone you relate with. You must find a coach with credible training and experience - not just anyone.

  • There are various ways to get yourself started with a Sex and Relationship Coach. Most coaches offer a free introduction or discovery call to start the conversation with you. To begin with me, book a free 20-minute introduction and discovery call now.

  • A sex and relationship coaching session is a private session where sexual and relationship growth areas and goals are worked on. It can be virtual or in-person. In the sessions, we’ll explore physical, emotional, and mental blocks preventing you from having a fulfilling sex and relationship life. You’ll get to work with me without judgement, talk about anything from body image and performance anxiety to exploring your desires and hottest sexual fantasies, and transform all aspects of your sex and relationship life.
